Grand Marshall Bio
Kathryn McGlinchey Laughlin

Kathryn is a lifetime resident of Livermore, CA. Her grandfather, John McGlinchey, who was President of the Livermore Stockmen’s Protective Association at the time, was instrumental in starting the first Livermore Rodeo in 1918. Kathryn can’t remember a time that she wasn’t involved in the Livermore Rodeo. She pronounces it as “Ro-Day-O” and will correct you if you say the traditional rodeo. Kathryn’s late husband was Livermore Rodeo President in 1987-1989.

Her great-grandmother spearheaded the efforts in getting a grant from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation, local contributions, and City taxes to build the Carnegie Hall Library which opened in May 1911. Kathryn has fond memories at the library.

Kathryn has been a member of the Alameda County Cattlewomen for 40+ years and was honored as Alameda County Cattlewomen, (formally known as Cowbelle) of the Year in 1995. She is also a longtime member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West.

Kathryn has been involved in many agriculture activities, including teaching of rodeo history, cowboy camp at LHS AG Day, Cowboy Church and a Cooking 4-H leader.

Kathryn is still very active in the Livermore Rodeo; she has been on the Livermore Rodeo Foundation Board since it’s inception in 2008. Currently she holds the board title of Historian.

Community Service Award Bio
 Ronald A Forbs Sr.

Born in 1962, Ronnie Forbes’s life took a significant turn when he joined the military in 1984, serving in Korea for three years. However, after his discharge Ronnie battled with PTSD, leading him to homelessness and cycles of incarceration. Amidst these struggles, Ronnie also grappled with drug and alcohol addiction, further complicating his journey toward recovery. However, during this challenging period, a divine intervention occurred during Ronnie’s final days in Santa Rita jail. In a grace-filled moment of clarity, God spoke to Ronnie, presenting him with a choice: to serve behind the prison walls or outside them, but to serve, nonetheless. Inspired by this revelation, Ronnie made a transformative decision that would change the trajectory of his life forever.

Returning to the streets where he once struggled to survive, Ronnie embarked on a mission of compassion and service. He began delivering food to those in need, drawing from his personal experiences with housing and food insecurity. Motivated by his personal growth, Ronnie founded the One Nation Dream Makers (ONDM), an organization dedicated to combatting hunger in Alameda County. Ronnie’s commitment to service extends beyond his work with ONDM. He became involved with veteran organizations such as the VFW and the American Legion, leveraging his experiences to support his fellow veterans. In Ronnie Forbes, we find a story of resilience and determination, inspiring others to turn adversity into opportunity and make a difference in their communities. This year, on July 4th, Ronnie will celebrate 9 years of sobriety, exemplifying the power of persistence and selfless service.

Ronnie is a member of the Rotary club of Livermore. He continues to spread his positive enthusiasm for life and helping others as a member of our club. Ronnie is blessed to have his amazing wife Zenny by his side who enjoys giving back to our community just like Ronnie. Zenny has that same passion for volunteerism, and along with Ronnie they double that spirit of giving back and making a difference.
