The Sound of Music
The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to
become the world’s most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished
songs, including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,”
“Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and the title number, The Sound of Music won
the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars.
The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows
an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the
imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as
the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp
family must make a moral decision.

Experience the magic of our brightly decorated holiday train, covered with thousands of lights, as it winds through the darkness of Niles Canyon on a 75-minute round-trip ride from Niles to Sunol and back, and the later train from Sunol to Niles and back.
This annual fundraising event is presented by the Pacific Locomotive Association to benefit Niles Canyon Railway projects throughout the year. We are sincerely grateful for all of our supporters who help our non-profit, tax-exempt, living history museum continue to operate and grow.
Trains run both from Sunol to Niles and back, and from Niles to Sunol and back.

Built in 1915, along the newly dedicated Lincoln Highway, the garage served as a gas station, service station, and a car dealership (in the south portion, added in 1923).
The garage was restored by the Livermore Heritage Guild, and provides a number of historical displays.
The restored LHG fire trucks (as seen in the Rodeo Parade each year) are housed there.
A number of events are hosted there each year including the LHG Annual General Meeting.

Today’s Hagemann Ranch is the last 4.5 acres of continuously operated ranch land from the original rancho el Valle de San José, a Mexican land grant applied for in 1835 by the children of José Joaquin Bernal. The original Rancho consisted of 48,000 acres encompassing much of present day Sunol, Pleasanton and the northwest section of Livermore.
A variety of equipment and vehicles are on display in the historic buildings.
