Hyprov with Colin Mochrie
From the minds of improv and comedy legend Colin Mochrie and Master Hypnotist Asad Mecci comes a brand new, mind-blowing, jaw-dropping, side-splitting show. Hypnosis and improvisation – two art forms that have captured minds and imaginations for decades worldwide – are brought together by two masters of their crafts, creating a totally unique theatrical experience, HYPROV: Improv Under Hypnosis.

Twenty random volunteers from the audience will be hypnotized, (the process of which is a show in its own right), their inhibitions evaporated and their minds no longer their own, the four or five best are left on stage when one of the world’s leading improvisers enters! Colin Mochrie, star of “Whose Line is it, Anyway?,” will initiate and manipulate those under hypnosis and turn the show into an improv extravaganza full of music, horse races and lots of laughter. In the hands of two masters, and crafted from the volunteers’ uninhibited subconscious, it’s an entirely original and completely unforgettable show every time. Who knows where the unconscious mind might take us?

Livermore Valley Opera - Eugene Onegin
This crown jewel of the Russian operatic repertoire is a passionate drama filled with sweepingly beautiful and unabashedly romantic music. Tchaikovsky’s best-loved opera is based on Alexander Pushkin’s profoundly human verse drama. Packed with memorable music, dances and a heart-stopping duel, it tells the bittersweet tale of a love that could have been. Our extravagant production will transport you to the courtly elegance of nineteenth century Russia. Sung in Russian with English supertitles.

Gala:
The Gala begins with a Welcome Reception at 4:00 pm. Following will be a Dinner at 4:30 pm.
The Opening Night Gala dinner is held at Uncle Yu’s at the Vineyard, conveniently located at 39 South Livermore Avenue.

South Pacific (1958)
A young American nurse from Little Rock (Mitzi Gaynor) meets the handsome and mysterious French planter (Rossano Brazzi) on a South Pacific island during World War II. Despite the differences in their backgrounds, their romance blooms in lush tropical paradise bordered by both the lighthearted hijinks of the sailors and the ever present dangers of war. With an unforgettable Rogers and Hammerstein score that includes “Some Enchanted Evening,” “Bloody Mary,” and “Younger Than Springtime,” South Pacific is considered one of the most powerful and most popular musicals of all time.

Oakland Ballet: Luna Mexicana
Spirited dance, lively music and colorful costumes help celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) in this festive, family-friendly show created by artistic director Graham Lustig. An exhilarating array of dances light up the stage including Lustig’s “Luna Mexicana” ballet which highlights the traditions surrounding Dia de los Muertos, as well as the return of “Viva la Vida,” a collaboration between Lustig and Martin Romero, artistic director of Ballet Folklórico México Danza. “Viva la Vida!” honors the life and singular vision of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo with a striking visual energy that draws on her love for animals and the passionate, bright colors that animate her work. Mexican contemporary and folkloric dance works performed by Ballet Folklorico, as well as Nahui Ehekatl & Co. Aztec dance company, complete a joyful celebration for all ages.

About Dia de los Muertos: Celebrated on the first two days of November every year, Dia de los Muertos is a traditional Mexican celebration that brings families together as they welcome the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion in the real world. Although the symbols of the holiday feature skeletons and skulls, and there are costumes and parades, Dia de los Muertos is not a Mexican Halloween. Instead the celebration honors traditions that derive from early Aztec beliefs. On that date, the border between the spirit world and the real world was believed to be dissolved and the souls of the dead would awaken and return to the living world to feast, drink, dance and play music with loved ones. The colorful and lively celebration has evolved to include fancy costumes, intricate paper decorations, and the tradition of leaving food or other offerings on graves or on small altars called ofrendas.

Todd Snider with very special guest Ramblin' Jack Elliott
Todd Snider has been described by Premier Guitar magazine as “the closest thing we have to Johnny Cash these days” and Cash himself was known to welcome his “good buddy” Ramblin’ Jack Elliott up on stage. Now the Cash connections line up as Snider and Elliott share the stage for a rollicking evening of good music and good times.

Todd Snider has journeyed across musical genres – from his early folk and Americana roots, he took bluegrass and blues through the alt-rock era, leaving his own distinctive stamp on each. His most recent album “Cash Cabin Sessions Vol. 3,” recorded at Cash’s own studio, brings him full circle showcasing his acoustic style and the wry wit of his songwriting.

Considered one of the last true links to America’s folk music tradition, Elliott’s guitar virtuosity and irresistible storytelling spans his wide-ranging repertoire. He became immersed in the folk music of his lifelong friend and mentor, Woodie Guthrie, caught the blues from Leadbelly and other giants of the era, and his own creativity has made him an inspiration for a generation of musicians. He received the National Medal of the Arts in 1998.

Modern-day American troubadours with roots across the musical spectrum, both Snider and Elliott bring a genuine love for sharing their music that reaches audiences wherever they go.

Duarte Garage and Lincoln Highway Museum Open
The Duarte Garage was built in 1915 by F.H. Duarte on the original Lincoln Highway, the first transcontinental U.S. Highway. When the Carquinez Bridge opened in 1927, the highway was re-routed. This section fronting the north doors was eventually renamed Portola Avenue. Junction Avenue originally ran past the south doors.

The garage sold Associated gasoline and oil products and also performed repairs. In 1923 the south half of the garage was added and became an automobile dealership, selling Durant Star and Flint models. Robert Livermore Jr. was one of the salesmen in the early 1920’s.

In the early 1940’s the garage was converted into a machine shop for rebuilding winery and farm equipment. During the 1970’s the City of Livermore purchased the Duarte Garage and surrounding land for use as a park (now adjacent east of the Garage and caretaker's home). The Livermore Heritage Guild signed a lease in 1976 to restore and maintain the garage for use as a museum.

The Annual Guild Dinner and Annual Auction are both held in the garage. The Auction in particular is a favorite for people from all around.
