Four silent "Bronco Billy" films starring George Anderson, one of the partners of the Niles film production company, Essanay, will be shown in the meeting room of the Livermore Civic Center Library at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8th. Essanay produced five Charley Chaplin films while in Niles circa 1914. Light refreshments are provided.

You are invited to join us for a fundraising evening of FIne Dining, Movies and Silent Auction
6:00 PM - Fine dining at the Historic Niles Belvoir Springs Hotel, c1880s.
Followed by "Silent Hitchcock" a special showing, at the Niles Edison Theater, of two superb 1929 films by Alfred Hitchcock, (then little known as a master of silent films).
8:30 PM - Straight from England: Blackmail and The Manxman. with Frederick Hodges at the piano
Dinner, Movies & Auction: Suggested Donation : $85.00 per quest Includes dinner & dessert catered by the Essanay Café, wine, shuttle transportation to and from the Belvoir Springs Hotel, Hitchcock double feature at the Niles Edison Theatre c.1913 and an opportunity to bid on a variety of wonderful items at the silent auction.
All proceeds benefit the Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum restoration project. NESFM is, a 501 c3 non-profit organization run by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our mission is to preserve local history, especially as it pertains to early film-making in the bay area and Niles unique role in it.

Distinguished Canadian pianist Robert Silverman will play in Livermore November 11 as part of his North American tour, performing an all-Mozart concert honoring the composer's 250th birthyear. The first recipient of the Ontario Art Council's Paul de Hueck and Norman Walford Career Achievement Award for Keyboard Artistry, he has performed with major symphony orchestras in North America, Eupope, Asia and Australia and has recorded 25 CD's. He was on the faculty of the University of British Columbia for many years and served as Director of the School of Music for 5 years. The New York Times calls him "a pianist of importance and high-minded purpose" and the Seattle Post Intelligencer considers him "a pianists pianist, unquestionably in the league of his generation."

Paul Jacobs, who the Chicago Tribune has called "One of the most supremely gifted young organists of his generation," is returning again to play the fine Casavant Freres pipe organ at the First Presbyterian Church in Livermore. The Hartford Courant compares him to organ lengends Virgil Fox and E. Power Biggs. Now, at age 29, he heads the Organ Department at Juilliard and has been acclaimed for his phenomenal technique, his charismatic stage presence and his huge and varied repertoire.
