June 3 Saturday | Buenas Vidas Youth Ranch 22th Annual Chili Cook-off Some info based on 2005 information. Chili from hometown cooks and cooks from all of Northern California. It is an International Chili Society sanctioned event. Local dignitaries will be doing the judging, with prizes for the winners of both the ICS division and local division. Entry is $35, and requires 3 gallons of chili. There will also be arts and crafts booths, a band, some dance performances, and other activities. Hot dogs, Hamburgers, Soda, and Beer will be sold. Proceeds go to a special fund for extra outings for the boys in residence at the Ranch. Opera in the Vineyard Some info below from 2005 Enjoy wonderful arias and songs sung by some of the Bay Area's finest performers! This popular annual event is presented by the Livermore Valley Opera Guild to benefit the non-profit opera company. Featuring wonderful Livermore Opera principal singers Bring along a blanket or chairs to sit on, a picnic dinner to eat, and jackets to wear as it gets chilly in the summer evenings. Limited table seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. For those who do not want to prepare food, grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, cookies and coffee are available for purchase at the site. Guests are requested not to bring their own alcoholic beverages.
