Livermore-Amador Symphony  - Romantic Expressions
Our season finale begins with pure joy as the irrepressible musical spirit of Berlioz bursts forth in his Roman Carnival Overture. Cellist Jennifer Kloetzel, noted for her elegant playing and vibrant tone, performs Elgar’s deeply personal and expressive Cello Concerto, composed in the wake of the devastating First World War. Tchaikovsky’s buoyant Symphony No. 2, rooted in Russian folk song, brings our season to a rousing conclusion.

Shall We Dance? (1937) with Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers
Ballet dancer Peter Peters (Fred Astaire) is obsessed with the idea of partnering with tap-dance sensation Linda Keene (Ginger Rogers) and arranges to meet her. Linda is unimpressed with him but their meeting accidently sparks a rumor that they are secretly married. In a publicity stunt designed to quell the story, they make plans to marry and then divorce, only to discover that perhaps they’re happier with each other than without. The score weaves together favorite George and Ira Gershwin songs such as “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off,” “They Can’t Take That Away from Me,” and more.

Livermore Rodeo - Cowgirl Luncheon
The Livermore Rodeo Foundation in partnership with Livermore Stockmen's Rodeo Association is proud to announce the 20th Annual Lil' Pardners Rodeo, Sunday, June 14, 2015. We are very excited about the program and we're sure you will be too! You and your special child will be guests of the Rodeo Foundation and the Livermore Stockman’s Rodeo Association to be "cowboys and cowgirls for a day." This event will be limited to 40 mentally or physically challenged children who are between the ages of 5 and 15 years old. Attending family members are limited to 6, including the participant. Parents are to provide transportation for themselves and their children. Note: this is not a school-sponsored event. The participants will be guests of the Rodeo Foundation and the Livermore Stockmen's Rodeo Association.

The basic format of the Lil' Pardners Rodeo starts off with lunch and gifts donated by local businesses and individuals. Then your special-needs child is paired up with real cowboys and cowgirls, and engages in simulated rodeo activities.

The events include steer roping using pretend steers, eight-second rides on a hand-rocked bull and bareback horse, barrel racing using stick horses, and a ride on the back of a real horse! All events are designed to be appropriate for this group of special children.

The entire hour-long performance is announced by the official rodeo announcer for the Livermore Rodeo. Following completion of the events, each child is recognized with his/her cowboy "pardner," and is awarded a trophy and an autographed picture of the child and his/her cowboy "pardner." The Lil' Pardners Rodeo involves special-needs children, demonstrating a broad range of handicapped or mental conditions. Children from the Tri-Valley community serve as the program's participants. Safety considerations are foremost at all times.

The Lil Pardners Rodeo is scheduled to precede the Livermore Rodeo performance, with the general public in attendance invited to see this heartwarming event. The Lil' Pardners Rodeo participants and their families are then treated as our guests to the Livermore Rodeo, so they can see their cowboy "pardners" in action.

Better Than Ezra
In the more than two decades since their hit single “Good” dominated the airwaves in 1995, Better Than Ezra has continued to push the envelope of alternative rock. Coming out of New Orleans in the early 1990s, the trio’s accessible songs and musical style quickly pulled a faithful audience. The timeless appeal of their music reached pop heights when Taylor Swift covered their track “Breathless” and their song “Juicy” was licensed to Desperate Housewives. With eight studio albums to their credit, Better Than Ezra continues to strike a balance between familiar and fresh, satisfying their fans and inspiring new listeners.

And where does it all begin ~ at our Junior Rodeos.

It is a whole day dedicated to the next generation of cowboys and cowgirls.
Contestants range from the adorable age of 1-5 years old and can really give a cowboy a run for their money in our Pee Wee Program.
We also have Junior and Senior events that include the speed of barrel racing, and the excitement of steer riding. These are boys and girls between the ages of 6-18 years old In fact there are over 17 different rodeo type events that are young people choose from.

Community 4 Education: Crawdad Republic, Meredith, Meshach & Friends
Community4Education is a music-filled event to benefit the educational outreach programs of both Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center and Livermore Valley Education Foundation. The event will begin in the afternoon on Saturday, June 16 at 4:00 p.m. with a musical showcase on the plaza outside the Bankhead Theater. Featured will be Element 116 providing jazz and big band tunes, as well as other local music groups. The music moves inside the Bankhead at 7:00 p.m. for the fundraising concert. Two local bands will keep the night alive with music — the upbeat folk and bluegrass sounds of Crawdad Republic as well as Meredith, Meshach & Friends with their engaging mix of jazz, rock, folk and country cross-genre styles. Raffle prize drawings throughout the event will add to the fun and fundraising.

The afternoon music showcase on the plaza is FREE, food will be available for purchase. Tickets to the evening performance are just $20 each.

Lobby of the Bankhead will open at 6:30 p.m. with music and refreshments available for purchase. The performance on the stage of the Bankhead will begin at 8:00 p.m.

All participating bands have donated their time to perform.
