DakhaDrakha
DakhaBrakha reflects the fundamental sound and soul of Ukraine in music that is original, intimate and authentic. Their name, meaning “give/take” in the old Ukranian language, reflects their “ethno-chaos” style of exploring both folk music and contemporary rhythms. With Indian, Arabic, African, Russian and Australian traditional instrumentation, this quartet’s astonishingly powerful and uncompromising vocal range creates a trans-national sound rooted in Ukrainian culture that has true global appeal.

The Capitol Steps
Returning for their eighth annual evening of side-splitting political satire, the members of Capitol Steps combine experience on the Hill with musical, acting, improv and sheer comedic talent in an equal opportunity skewering of modern day politics. The only group in America that attempts to be funnier than Congress, they never fail to find humor in the latest headlines, scandals and videos. Given today’s gridlock, a Capitol Steps show may be the only thing capable of winning bipartisan support!

Eos Ensemble - Del Valle Fine Arts
San Francisco Opera Orchestra members excite audiences with the intimacy of a small ensemble. With artistry normally reserved for the grand canvas of opera, Eos ensembles have been thrilling audiences for over 10 years. This concert features violinist Craig Reiss, cellist Thalia Moore and guest pianist Gwendolyn Mok. The Eos Trio presents an all-French program, featuring piano trios from Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel. Debussy’s music hearkens back to the Romantic era and evokes Parisian salons of the late 19th century, while Ravel mirrors the style of Impressionist painters Monet and Renoir with new musical colors and tonalities.

With the harp, bandola, cuatro, bass, cajon, maracas and high-pitched voices, Cimarrón creates musical fireworks that astonish and exhilarate audiences of all ages.

Livermore Heritage Guild History Forum - History of Oak Knoll Cemetery
Richard Finn will present the history of Livermore's Oak Knoll cemetery, the hill along Stanley Blvd. and Arroyo Mocho next to Granada High School, at 7 p.m. at Livermore Public Library, Civic Center. Richard and his cousin Peter Kitchingham, of London, England, have spent several years researching hundreds of people buried at Oak Knoll, the LivermoreAmador Valley's first formal cemetery. Members of the last wagon train over the Sierras in the terrible winter of 1846, the founder of Alameda County, and ancestors of prominent local families are interred there.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. with the talk to follow at 7:30 p.m. at the Civic Center Library located at 1188 South Livermore Avenue. Light refreshments are provided. While there is no charge for the talk, donations are encouraged.
