Flying Karamozov Brothers
Named after the Dostoyevsky novel, the Flying Karamazov Brothers mix visual fireworks, visceral physicality and theatrical innovation to create a post-modern sensibility where anything is possible. They combine skill and wit to form a work that is both kaleidoscopic and passionate. Objects, musical instruments (traditional and invented) and their own bodies are transformed into a fresh polyrhythmic performance. "4Play", their latest original show directed by Paul Magid, is a unique blend of humor, nouveau cirque, visual music, dance and theatre.

Sotto Voce - Del Valle Fine Arts
Tubas! You just can't have too many of them. "High Art for Low Brass" is how this quartet consisting of two euphoniums and two tubas characterizes its music. After twelve years of performing across North America and Europe, Sotto Voce has firmly established itself as a unique ensemble with an extraordinary sense of musicianship. The members of the group are all stars in the tuba/euphonium world, published composers, and university professors. The quartet prides itself in challenging preconceived notions about tubas by composing, arranging, and commissioning virtuosic new works to create a diverse repertoire comprising original compositions and arrangements of music from all eras (from English madrigals to the music of Frank Zappa). Sotto Voce performed for Del Valle Fine Arts in April 2006 and were an audience favorite. TubaNews.com says, "All of the players ... are at the absolute top of their game. Whether they are playing lyrical ballades, latin dance rhythms, or jazz improvisations, the clarity, style, and musicianship are matched by very few quartets in the world."

All Shook Up - Tri-Valley Repertory Theater
Librettist Joe DiPietro's exuberant jukebox musical shoe-horns the songs of Elvis Presley into a narrative that's part camp, part romantic farce.  The loopy tale of mismatched lovers in a 1955 Midwest burg incorporates classics that range from sweet romantic ballads such as "Love Me Tender" to the rollicking  "Devil in Disguise" and the hip-swiveling title song.  Starting with a gender-bending plot device reminiscent of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, DiPietro stirred in a dash of Footloose, then seasoned the brew with humorous flashes from sundry vintage shows such as The Music Man and By By Birdie.  An underrated gem, driven by sidesplitting tongue-in-cheek humor, those evergreen chart-toppers, and a tinge of genuine heart.

Resurrection Dance Theater of Haiti
Resurrection Dance Theatre of Haiti (RDTH): This dance troupe hails from St. Joseph's Home for Boys in Port au Prince. St. Joseph's is a home for boys who have been rescued from life on the streets in Haiti. They now reside at St. Joseph’s Home for Boys. Through art and dance they tell the stories of their life experiences. Their performances range from sharing the history of Haiti including, their nation's struggle against slavery, past and present, to Haitian life lived in both the rural and urban settings of Haiti. The troupe uses the arts to build and express self-esteem, incorporating drumming, dance, song, and the visual arts. Narration is contributed by the Executive Director and founder (in 1985) of St. Joseph’s Home for Boys, Michael Geilenfeld. The Resurrection Dance Theatre of Haiti has performed across the US and Canada including performances at Dance Africa Chicago and Dance Africa New York. Theirs tours are intended to raise awareness about Haiti’s challenges as well as to raise funds for the ongoing work of St. Joseph’s. St. Joseph's was completely destroyed in the earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12, 2010. An American seminarian was there at the time, and did not make it out alive. St. Joseph's Home for Boys is part of a trio of homes. Wings of Hope, Fermathe, Haiti, is arguably one of the finest group homes in all of the Caribbean for children with special needs. It is currently uninhabitable from the earthquake. Trinity House and School, the third home, is located in Jacmel, and was started by the boys of St. Joseph's Home in Port au Prince. This tour will raise funds and awareness for all three schools, as well as the communities in which these homes reside. Bill Nathan was a former street child and child slave who grew up at St. Joseph's, and is now the Director of the Home. He is also the world-renowed drummer that plays with RDTH. A quick internet search of his name will reveal a number of stories about his inspiring story.
