October 1 Wednesday

Rickie Lee Jones Over the span of her amazing career, two-time Grammy Award winner Rickie Lee Jones experienced significant commercial success, but a restless creative spirit -- combined with a stubborn refusal to fit comfortably into any one musical niche -- seals her ultimate destiny as a highly regarded cult heroine. Livermore Drug Take Back Event (get rid of your old pharmaceuticals) | ||||||||||||||||||
|
Oct 4 Saturday
|
Livermore Drug Take Back Event (get rid of
your old pharmaceuticals) Flushing unwanted pharmaceuticals down the toilet or drain pollutes the environment because wastewater treatment plants do not remove the prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs and vitamins from the wastewater. Treated water from the wastewater treatment plants flows to the San Francisco Bay or enters irrigation systems. Although the long-term health effects of these chemicals on aquatic life and humans are still under study, proactive measures are recommended to keep the pharmaceuticals out of the environment. One way to do so is to stop flushing unwanted drugs down toilets or drains. To help residents properly dispose of drugs, the City’s Water Resources Division and Police Department, and the American Red Cross are hosting a drug take back event. Livermore residents are invited to bring the following items to the Event for proper disposal: Medicated ointments, lotions or creams Questions? Call 960-8100 or send an email to wrd_info@ci.livermore.ca.us |
