Oliver! - Tri-Valley Repertory Theater - Main Stage
Oliver! is the musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’s classic tale of an orphan who runs away from the orphanage, run by the heartless Mr. Bumble. After running away Oliver hooks up with a group of boys trained to be pickpockets by a con artist, Fagin, where he meets the artful Dodger and Nancy. When Oliver goes on his first pick-pocketing job, he is caught by the police. He soon realizes that neither he nor Nancy is fit for a life of crime. The man that Oliver robbed, Mr. Brownlow, learns of his sad past and brings him into his own home. This heart-warming musical is something that the whole family can enjoy!!

Iolanthe
Gilbert & Sullivan’s satirical “fairy opera” takes a dig at British politics in the 1880s, but this illogical love story about what happens when a band of fairies take over Parliament still has plenty of relevance. Featuring the tongue-twisting tour de force “Nightmare Song”, a pompous and dim-witted ruling elite, and a leading man who’s half a fairy – from the waist up! As always, Gilbert’s satire is delivered with such elegant absurdity that all you can do is laugh at how the more things change, the more they remain the same.

On Saturday, August 31st, she will perform at the Duarte Garage/Highway Museum in Livermore. Doors open at 4:00 p.m. A Lincoln Highway marker will be dedicated at 4:30 p.m. Music is at 5:00 p.m. Suggested donation of $5.00 at the door.

Before the singing starts, the Questers will present us with an original marker from the Lincoln Highway, as installed in 1928. Very exciting to get this original piece of the Highway!
