Dozier, Martha McDowell, Pat Goard, Victorian King-Bowman, Andy Bowman, Judy Fenton, Ron Correll-Feichtner, Mike Correll-Feichtner, Kristen McCannon, and Jennifer Madden.

Violins of Hope
Join us on a journey of Hope through time and music with Violins of Hope -Strings of the Holocaust! Attend one of the three Violins of Hope Concerts performed by Livermore-Amador Symphony (LAS), conducted by Lara Webber, with special performances by violinist Lindsay Deutsch and cellist Peter Bedrossian.

Violins of Hope is a collection of restored musical instruments that were played by Jewish musicians during the Holocaust. These instruments have survived concentration camps, ghettos, pogroms and many long journeys to tell remarkable stories of injustice, suffering, resilience and survival.

The East Bay Holocaust Education Center (EBHEC) is honored to present the concerts, which include the co-founder of Violins of Hope, Avshi Weinstein, who will provide stories of these amazing instruments. Lara Webber has planned a riveting musical program with Livermore-Amador Symphony musicians playing many of the instruments.

An Evening with marlee Matlin
Marlee Matlin boldly challenges us to advocate inclusion, acceptance, and access for all people and to endeavor to live a life without judgment of others — everybody’s different, and nobody’s perfect. We’ll come away informed and empowered to make a difference in the world, with the knowledge that we can begin by changing just one person’s life.
Marlee Matlin received worldwide critical acclaim for her film debut in Paramount Pictures’ Children of a Lesser God, for which she received the Academy Award for Best Actress. At 21, she became the youngest recipient of the Best Actress Oscar, the first deaf performer to win an Academy Award, and only one of four actresses to receive the honor for her film debut. In addition to the Oscar, Marlee received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Drama. In 2021, Marlee was nominated once again as Executive Producer for the Live Action Short, Feeling Through. And in 2022, her Apple TV+ film CODA swept every category it was nominated in at the 2022 Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

The Cooke Book
The Cooke Book: The Music of Sam Cooke is a celebration of Sam Cooke’s innovative (but too brief) career that blazed a trail for Aretha Franklin, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, Rod Stewart, Smokey Robinson, and many other giants of Soul Music. The show includes more than twenty songs from the legendary singer/songwriter that seamlessly highlight Cooke’s musical journey from Gospel golden boy, through his transition into an international Pop sensation, his remarkable Jazz and Blues interpretations from his triumphant Copacabana appearance, and his lasting legacy. A Chicago son, like Cooke himself, Darrian Ford performs these timeless and classic melodies with expanded and re-invigorated arrangements that hold stylistically true to the era, while his “… scorching vocals send you searching for your soul” (The Chicago Tribune). Urban Milwaukee said, “Ford delivered faithfully throughout the night, but with ‘Change is Gonna Come,’ he transcended.” The Triangle Theater Review said, “Ford not only turns in remarkable performances, recreating some of Cooke’s distinctive mannerisms but captures the charisma and infectious energy of the celebrated Soul singer pioneer.”

Canadian Brass
With an international reputation as one of the most popular brass ensembles today, Canadian Brass has truly earned the distinction of “the world’s most famous brass group.”

Masters of concert presentations, Canadian Brass has developed a uniquely engaging stage presence and rapport with audiences. Each of their concerts shows the full range from trademark Baroque and Broadway hits, to new compositions and arrangements created especially for them – from formal classical presentations to music served up with lively dialogue and theatrical effects. The hallmark of any Canadian Brass performance is entertainment, spontaneity, virtuosity, and, most of all, fun – but never at the expense of the music.
