News

We are U10 B 3.  Aka Earthquakes.

Photo Day:
Sunday September 21.
Our slot is at 12:50pm.  Everyone should be there and assembled 15 minutes before then (I.E. 12:35pm).
I have forms, and will pass them out.
This year, however, you DO NOT NEED A FORM if you pre-order online.
You can pre-order at: www.gentilephotography.com, click on Pre-Order at the top, select Livermore Youth Soccer League, then type in LYSL as the Event Code.
    You can then pre-order what you want.  PLEASE, print out the receipt and bring it!!!!
    They need that form to write the photo number on so that you get photos of your son and not someone else’s!!!
          If you pre-order and forget the printed receipt, they will have a list of names and can look it up.
          If you do not pre-order and forget your form, they will have some there to fill out.
          They must have one or the other!!!.  A full 50% of people forget to bring the forms!!!

Parade:
This year for the first time, the league is doing a parade in downtown Livermore on Opening Day.
August 23, 7:00am, at the old Lucky/Albertson shopping center downtown.  The parade will go down 1^st Street.

Uniform:
This is a transition year for the uniforms.  The league is selling new uniforms, but you can use the old one this year.  It is OK for the team to be mixed old and new.
Two uniform sale dates are remaining.  See our web site or the league web site for details.

Friday Night Drop Ins.
Drop ins are held every Friday Night from Aug 1 to Oct 10 (except Sept 5 – Labor Day weekend) from 5:00 to 6:30.
It provides some extra practice time and skills sessions.  About 150 kids show up at each one.
Robertson Park – near the Rodeo Grounds.
August 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
September 12, 19, 26  (no drop in for Sept 5 due to Labor Day weekend)
October 3, 10

Game Schedule
Our schedule will be available in about a week.
All of our games are at Altamont Creek school.  Same as U9 last year.

Goal Safety
Goals MUST be staked down.  All goals have a stake on the back on both sides.
First game in the morning sets up the goals.
Last game in the afternoon takes them down.
NO PLAYERS are allowed to set up or take down goals.  It MUST be parents.
Kids cannot be allowed to climb on goals.

Dinner Dance / Silent Auction
October 17.  at the Shrine Center 170 Linbergh Ave, Livermore
These is Halloween (costumes are optional but VERY much appreciated).
7:00 to 11:30pm
Tickets for the event are sold IN ADVANCE (no ticket sales at the door). Deadline for ticket sales and delivery of ticket payment is September 17, 2008. If you would like a packet of tickets to sell for your team, please contact Shawnie Madrid at slmadrid@comcast.net or (925)200-4303.

Equipment Problems
If you see any equipment problems such as problems with a goal, send email to operations@lysl.org or equipment@lysl.org

Workshop for Parents
The league is holding a workshop for parents this year as part of the Positive Coaching Alliance program.
August 11, 6:30 to 8:30pm at the Robert Livermore Community Center.
I think they will have a signup online.

Parents on the sidelines
Parents are not to coach from the sidelines.  Please leave that to the coaches.
Please cheer on the team and remain positive at all times.
An example was given of a kid who requested to always play on the coaches side rather than the parents side of the field, so that his father would not yell at him the whole game!! 
One parent last year on a different team constantly barked out orders the entire game.

Practice Schedule

Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays
Beginning July 10
Time:  6:00pm to 7:00pm
10/14/08:  6:00pm to 6:45pm
After 10/14: 5:45pm to 6:30pm

Game Schedule

Regular Season
Please Arrive 25 minutes before the game time

Wear the GREEN jersey, green socks for Home Games
Wear the White jersey, white socks for the Away Games

For snacks, please bring a fruit of some kind for half time and a drink with a light snack for the end of the game (e.g. grapes for ˝ time and juice box with snack-size crackers).
If you need to switch with anyone please make your own arrangements. Thank you!

Uniform

There is a new uniform for 2008, but it is a transition year, allowing you to wear last year's uniform.

The new uniform will only be sold at uniform sales events.  The events are scheduled as follows:

The uniforms package consists of two jerseys, one pair of shorts, and 2 pairs of socks for $36.

The uniform CANNOT be modified. No names, etc. The only modification permitted is to change the number of there are repeats on the team.
